House: The Casino Operator responsible for watching over the game.
Baccarat Table of Play: A set of mandatory rules that determine whether the Player or Banker should stand or draw an additional card.
Natural: A tow-card total of eight or nine points. These are achieved by either the Player hand or the Banker hand.
Non-Commission Baccarat: A special version of Baccarat where wagers placed on the Banker will be paid at 1 to 1 odds. The only exception to that rule is an event when the Banker wins on Six Points. In such an event, only 50% of the amount that has been wagered on the Banker will be paid.
Player Pair or Banker Pair: The first two cards of the Player hand or the Banker hand that appear to form a pair with another set of two cards.
Example: 10, 10 and K, K will constitute a Player Pair or a Banker Pair.
Tie: A situation in which the Player’s hand and the Banker’s hand have the same point count.
Specifics of the game
In Baccarat, the court cards King, Queen, Jack and Ten are all valued as zero. An Ace is valued as one, while all the other cards correspond to their numerical face values.
Thus the point count of a hand can be a single digit number ranging from 0 to 9, depending on the total value of the cards in your hand. Nine (9) would be the highest count, eight (8) the second highest count and the list continues in descending order.
The hand (a Player hand or a Banker hand), which has the highest points, is the winner.
